Mr. Kwesi Sam-Woode is an alumnus of Adisadel College, Cape Coast (1955 – 1960) and the University of Ghana, Commonwealth Hall (1961 – 1964). He taught for 3 years at his alma mater and 1 year at Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast. He also spent 3 years in youth work with the Geneva based World Student Christian Federation as Travelling Secretary for the Student Christian Movement of Ghana.

Mr. Sam-Woode entered the business of Book Publishing in the year 1969. After working part-time for 2 years with CAFFREY SAUNDERS U.K. a firm of Educational suppliers representing 12 British Book Publishers and stationery Producers in West Africa, took up a full-time appointment in 1971 as The Ghana representative for Evans Brothers (Books) Ltd, a firm of Educational Publishers based in London.

He later became a Consultant/Adviser to West African Book Publishers Ltd (WABP) an associate Company of ACADEMY PRESS LTD of Nigeria for the development of the company’s first Educational Book Publishing Project during the period 1982 – 1986. The project was a huge success and WABP is now one of the leading indigenous Educational Book Publishers in Nigeria.

In 1974 he joined the promoters of Afram Publications (Ghana) Ltd (AFRAM) (The late Mrs Efua T. Sutherland, the late Mr. Willis E. Bell (American) and Professor Kwabena Nketia] as a shareholding partner and First Managing Director of AFRAM to establish the first privately owned, indigenous Educational Book Publishing Company fully dedicated to developing the Textbooks Publishing Business in Ghana. Afram Publications (Ghana) Ltd is now one of the leading Publishers of Educational Books in Ghana. 

 After 13 years as the Managing Director of Afram Publications (Ghana) Ltd, Mr. Sam-Woode set up another educational publishing enterprise which grew to become Sam-Woode Ltd (SWL). He served as the Executive Chairman and the CEO of SWL during which time the company became listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (2002) and became a member of the Ghana Club 100 (2009) before his retirement in 2010.  He now serves as a non-executive Chairman of SWL; offering the needed strategic advice to the management of SWL in the process of lifting SWL’s publishing programs unto the various DIGITAL platforms and Web Portals.
